Still Watcher

A quiet portrait of a great egret, rendered in soft layers of color and light.

Drawn from the wetlands and shorelines that inspire much of my work, this piece focuses on a fleeting moment of stillness - the watchful pause before movement, where bird, water, and landscape seem to settle into balance.

The simplicity of the composition allows subtle details to emerge: the curve of the neck, the luminous eye, and the contrast between bright plumage and the muted greens of the marsh. Like many pieces in the Of Tide, Wing, and Water collection, it reflects an appreciation for the calm beauty found in coastal and wetland environments.
